Episode Summary[]

The adventurers have used an invitation by Grifto to escape a massacre in Trenton and have made their way into what is known as Goblin City, where Corvino has sent them into a labyrinth with high walls and a large castle in the distance200. Bright daylight shines in this place, and they assume to have traveled to a different plane.

Inside the labyrinth, Raquel is not fooled by any of its trappings. Examining the 50 feet high walls, she realizes parts of them are just illusions, and she leads the group through them onward. Clover then suggests to trace the wall to their right side, as this will lead them to an exit sooner or later. When he uses Rope Trick to try and get an overview of the maze, giant scissors appear and cut his rope, and a voice warns them that this is cheating.

Fanel scouts ahead and leads the group to two doors and two guards, each colored in red and blue. One of them is always lying, but Raquel sees right through them and leads her group through the red door. Behind the door, the high walls are overgrown with a canopy of vines. As they explore further, they realize that they are walking in circles, and that the maze itself seems to change. Clover's tracing method has failed, and Fanel's marking the walls has also failed, as his drawings of branches get twisted in random directions.

Suddenly there is crying, and a pack of goblin flees past them. Behind them, a familiar looking hag187 appears, attempting to herd in the goblins. Fanel confronts her, and she recognizes them, before cussing and fleeing to whence she came. Clover quickly throws up his arcane disc, which flies after the hag through the hedges. He and Fanel chase it, and find it after a while, lying on the ground, and with a new ruby embedded in it, though the hag is nowhere to be seen. An arcane inspection tells the Mousefolk that it thrums with transmutation magic, but now also with abjuration and divination.

A new wall blocks off the way back, so the group walks into the opposite direction. After a while, the ground suddenly falls away under their feet, and Raquel and Irpaks hurt themselves by falling into a pit. Fanel the monk slow falls to the ground, while Clover and Throden are gently carried down by numerous Helping Hands. They form a face with their fingers, complete with eyes, nose, mouth and a bushy mustache, to talk to Clover.

Once in the pit, Raquel sees a tunnel, and a quick glance gives her the right intuition about the direction to take. She leads the group safely through the tunnel, avoiding any traps, and they reach a dead end in a cave, where they find a bookshelf.

Raquel realizes straight away that the bookshelf is hiding another passage. She leads the group through it, guided by a nauseating stench in the air. They follow the passage to a bright light, which is a clearing in a forest, with a stinking bog nearby. A very narrow footpath snakes through the bog and leads to a bridge in the distance.

Irpaks ties together two ropes and sends Fanel ahead to the other side, while Throden is holding the other end. Once the monk is there, he helps the others navigate the narrow path, but poor Clover and Throden still fall into the disgusting bog sludge.

When they climb out and gather before the bridge, suddenly barking can be heard from behind a tree, and then an excited, three colored corgi jumps out at them.
